Lets begin with the facial product's shelf lifes!
"Foundation keeps for 12 months, concealers for one year and powder for two years," says Bobbi Brown celebrity make-up artist and founder of Bobbi Brown cosmetics. "It's important to check your skin tone periodically; the foundation that matched your face six months ago may be too light or dark today, because of a normal change in skin tone due to the seasons."
Moving on! To... Powder foundations!
It's great for people who needs a light coverage, but for me.. my skin is too bad for only powder.. I have to use liquid foundations with so many requirements such as ... it has to be a mineral makeup foundation and it has to have a medium-full coverage :$ I hope my skin was flawless *cries!
Powder principles -"Pressed and loose powders are exactly the same; pressed powders is simply loose powder that's been compressed into a compact," says Blakeney. "Loose powder will last longer and give you more coverage cause it's fluffier and adheres more easily to the brush or powder puff. The trick is to use loose powder when you're at home, and have pressed powder on hand for touch-ups during the day".
That sounds great! I need to go out and find a perfect mineral-pressed foundation... :( Any suggestions?
Corrector's FAQs
#1 Should concealer go on before or after foundation?"Usually you put your foundation on first, followed by a layer of concealer," Blakeney says. "So if you want to hide a zit, foundation goes on first and then a dab of cover-up (if you put the cover-up on first, it will wipe straight off when you apply your foundation). But there's one expection: to hide undereye circles, only use concealer (applied gently with fingers) and skip the foundation. Never use a concealer under the eyes that's too white or heavy - it will only highlight the problem."
#2 Concealer makes my pimples stand out more. What am I doing wrong?"If applied incorrectly, concealer will draw attention to anything you want to hide," says Blakeney. "The most common mistake is using a shade that's too light. Look for a yellow-based shade only slightly lighter than your skin tone. To cover redness, dot on a fluid concealer and blend with your finger. Or to hide spots, pat a thick concealer around it, then set with powder.
