Rules of Foundation

This is an extract about 'Rules of Foundation' from one of the Dolly magazines that I was looking through, at somewhere I'm unsure :33

1. CHOOSE!
Be sure to contemplate the following before making-up: Do you want a matte or dewy finish to your foundation?
"A matte finish has a more powdered effect, whereas a dewy finish is about less-is-more," Nicola says. "If you are prone to oily skin and tend to get shiny, a matte finish is best. A normal to dry skin type best suits a dewy finish as it will leave the face looking fresher, glowing and more hydrated."
Take a note to whether your skin is pink (beige) or yellow (golden) based.
"Being away of your skin undertones means you can choose shades to complement it. If you're golden-based and wear beige foundation, you'll end up looking ashy, and if you're beige-based and wear golden foundation, you'll tend to look orange.

2. PREPARE!
"Cleanse, tone and moisturize, then apply primer to help lock in moisture and set your make-up so it stays put," Nicola says.
Apply your moisturizer within the first few minutes of stepping out of the shower when your pores are still open for maximum absorption.

3. APPLY!
Sponges or brushes?
"I can't live without a foundation brush. It's the holy grails of make-up tools," Nicole says. "Sponges are fine, but they absorb a lot of product so while it may seem cheaper, a foundation brush will save you in the long run."

This way or that?
"Start applying at the bridge of the nose, patting outwards over the cheeks, avoiding the eye area at all costs," Nicole says. Concealer is the only exception to the no-go zone rule. "Once you've patted the foundation to your required coverage, feather the product outwards towards the edge of your face in small motions." Think of blending foundation as you would icing on a cake - it's much more important that you get the icing even, then build it up into one blob.

4. ACCESSORISE
Once you've perfected your base, accessorise with a highlighter (using a lighter tone), blush and shading (using a darker tone) to bring out the best of your facial features.

Highlight: Dab highlighter on your upper cheeks and brown bone."Apply highlighter to the areas you want to stand out," Nicola says."Use a medium-sized eyeshadow brush for a cream application or a blush brush for powder." If you have fair skin, hit up a pink-based highlighter and if you have olive skin, go for a golden-based product."

Shade: "We all use bronzer to add warmth to our complexion, but it's also a great way to contour your face," Nicola explains. "Embrace a bronzer two to four shades darken than your skin tone. If it's the evening, go darker and go lighter during the day. Create a light line with your bronzer from the middle of your ear to the outer corner of your mouth. Then blend upwards so the line becomes a shadow falling just underneath your cheekbone."

Blush: "For a glam-rock look, apply to the apples of the cheeks. For everyday, sweep your blush softly across the cheekbones." Nicola says.

5. SEAL
"Powder is your best friend when it comes to sealing this deal," Nicola says. "Lightly press your powder onto your face and eye area."

That is all! Bye guys :D
This is turning into a foundation blog LOL. All I post is foundation! :333
